How to quantify your resume achievements

A quantified resume beats a vague one every time. "Improved performance" is forgettable; "cut page-load time 1.2s, lifting conversion 9%" is not. The objection most people have - "my job doesn't have numbers" - is almost always solvable.
The four kinds of metrics
- Money - revenue, cost saved, budget managed, deals closed.
- Percent change - growth, reduction, efficiency, adoption.
- Time - hours saved per week, faster turnaround, deadlines beaten.
- Scale - users, requests, team size, tickets, locations.
If you don't track metrics
You have more numbers than you think. Ask yourself:
- How many people, accounts, or items did this affect?
- How often did you do it (daily, 50 a week)?
- What would have happened without you (delays, errors, cost)?
- Did anything get faster, cheaper, bigger, or more reliable?
Estimating honestly
An informed estimate is legitimate - "reduced manual work by roughly 10 hours/week". Round conservatively and be ready to explain how you got there.Where to put the number
Front-load it. "Grew newsletter 3x to 18k subscribers" hits harder than "Responsible for newsletter growth (it grew 3x)". The metric should be the first thing the eye lands on.
