Sales resume: skills, keywords & examples

Last updated May 31, 2026

Sales resumes are the most numbers-driven of all. Recruiters look for one thing first: did you hit quota? Lead with attainment, revenue, and growth - everything else is supporting.

What hiring teams look for

  • Quota attainment (%) - ideally multiple periods.
  • Revenue closed, deal size, and growth vs. prior year.
  • Pipeline, win rate, and the type of selling (new business vs. expansion).

Key skills and keywords

Common terms: quota attainment, ARR/MRR, pipeline, prospecting, B2B/B2B SaaS, CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot), full-cycle, upsell/cross-sell, negotiation, MEDDIC/SPIN. Name the methodology if the role uses one.

Example bullet points

Strong
Closed $1.8M new ARR at 128% of quota in FY25 (top 5% of the org), with an average deal size of $42k.
Strong
Grew a $300k book of business 45% YoY through expansion, lifting net revenue retention to 118%.

Common mistakes

  • No quota or revenue figures - the single biggest miss in sales resumes.
  • Describing activities ("made calls") instead of results.
  • Hiding a strong attainment number at the end of a bullet - lead with it.
